The efficiency of the mechanics and the satisfaction of self-powered travel (its fun to go fast from your own propulsion) of bicycling have long held my fascination. I have been biking recreationally since around the 7th grade.

Off to Stevens Institute of Technology for college, my afternoon tours were replaced by latenight rides with whatever friends I could gather. Originally a touring bike guy, the infrastructure around college--Stevens Tech in Hoboken, NJ--forced a change to a more rugged piece of equipment. (Too many flats due to pot-holes and gutter garbage.)

New working hours/sleeping pattern and traffic levels in a dense city necessitated rides relocated to after 10pm (and after midnight, it's even better).
